Private Tour to Westman Islands
Vestmannaeyjar Islands is one of the best-kept secrets in Iceland and you haven’t fully seen Iceland until you visit Vestmannaeyjar Islands.
The islands are one of the wonders of nature, surrounded by mountains, seacliffs, volcanoes, seabirds and locals.
We will be arriving to the island in the morning and we start by exploring the island for a while. Driving over a lava field from 1973, visiting Stórhöfði cape to try to get a glimpse of our beloved puffin and exploring the local town are some of the things we will do along with finding a place to have lunch. After eating and exploring you will have the option to do either a one-hour boat tour on a rib boat or join your guide in a suitable short hike for the group.
After the activity we will head to one of the fine museums the island has to offer. The best ones are Eldheimar or Sæheimar. Eldheimar offers a great insight in to the volcanic eruption that happened in 1973 just 500m from the town of Vestmannaeyjar and left the town devastated!
Sæheimar is an aquarium that gives insight in to the local marine life along with being the sanctuary for two belugas that were earlier in an aquarium in Shanghai.
We will then enjoy an early dinner in one of the local restaurants. The evening ferry will take us back the main land where we will drive back to Reykjavík.
