Sæheimar Natural History Museum and Aquarium

A visit to the Natural History Museum is an adventure in itself. There you can see both living and stuffed fish as well as most species of birds around Iceland and a remarkable rock and stone collection.

Sæheimar, the natural museum of Vestmannaeyjar, has twelve fish tanks with common fish from Icelandic sea, the bird exhibit in the museum has an exhibit of most birds in Heimaey, and the mineral exhibit shows minerals from all Iceland.

One of the most exciting thing to see in the museum is an alive puffin. The puffin name is “Tóti” and you will get to see him walking around in front of you
There is also a nice small touching tank which is interesting for the kids where they can view crabs, starfish, urchins, and small fish.
