We start our journey in Reykjavík picking you up at our nearby location and start our drive to the harbor. The ferry to the island takes about 40 minutes and make sure to have your cameras ready if the weather is sunny as we sail besides islands and mountains before docking at the harbor on the island creating mesmerizing views.

During our tour we will explore all the highlights and sightseeing points of this nature’s jewel of Iceland. We will see puffins up close at Stórhöfði, as this island is home to the largest puffin colonies in the world. We continue with a short hike up one of the Volcanoes, namely Eldfell volcano that erupted without warning in 1973 and forced the entire community to escape in boats in the middle of the night. We learn more about this when we visit the award-winning Eldheimar museum that showcases the real events and how the resilience and stubbornness of the islanders saved the island so we could still call it our home today.

Even though the island makes up of around 4,300 locals, this small island has a truly rich history and protected nature. Our viking ancestors survived the Algerian pirate attacks, extreme difficult weather and living conditions as well as natural phenomenons. Yet still after all of this, the love of their home proved to be stronger as every time, they have fought, endured and rebuild their homes just to protect the beautiful island they call theirs.
